Vanity Fair's International Best Dressed List

Secretly, now not so secretly, there are two things that will signify I've made it. They are being included in Vanity Fair's International Best Dressed List, and making the cover of Essence Magazine! Needless to stay, I'm still working on it. Vanity Fair just released their coveted 2010 list. Click here to see who made the cut.

Congrats to First Lady Michelle Obama for being featured on the list for the 4th consecutive year and for representing for stylish mocha ladies everywhere!

Flyness and international fashion,

FIERCETROCITIES

Toni Braxton, you look crazy!
Toni appeared on the red carpet at the Woman's Day Red Dress Art in this pop-art tragedy. Andy Warhol is turning in his grave. He never meant for this to happen. Don't you know that when you're a has-been these red carpet appearances are crucial? You can't afford to be looking CRAZY in the press. Please take some time to clear your head and re-evaluate your image. Thanks.

Kelly Rowland, you look crazy!!!
I'm sorry, some people weren't meant to be solo artists. I'm not impressed with her sound or her material and to make matters worse, she has proven that in her desperation for attention she will abandon all levels of dignity. This is the fallen songstress at a London club performing in some peacock/call girl get-up. Kelly, your back side is your business. Flashing it won't sell more cd's. Now go home and say a prayer. Thanks.

FIERCE

Sorry PITA, Eva looks fly during this visit to NBC Studios. Note the flawless combination of analogous jewel toned hues; emerald green earrings , amethyst purple bag, and sapphire blue dress and shoes. I also love what she's done with texture, combining suede, patent leather, chiffon, satin, and an over the top fur coat. This ensemble works on so many levels. Miss Eva, you look divine.

I love Keisha Cole's glamorous make-over as seen in her latest video "I Remember". Yes, she did it again, another soulful yet raw love ballad. She's got that Mary J. quality. The new hair style works, the dress is phenomenal, love her smokey eye, and we can see she's been in the gym getting pop star svelte.
Okay, not to be picky but if someone can just give her walking lessons or something... She's still lacks grace.

FIERCE

Mary J. Blidge at her album release party December 20th at the Solo Grand in NYC. Sorry PITA, but this white fox on top of winter white ensemble is muy elegante. Get it girl!
... Now if only I could say the same thing for her shoes.

Kiely you look crazy!

Cheetah Girl Kiely one the red carpet of the Spirit of Life Dinner and Awards looking like a witch. This blousy black and white gypsy-goth get-up is completely unflattering to her figure and particularly to her breast. Where is her stylist? Why would you allow a teeny-bopper star to be photographed in this. Let's not influence the tweens with bad taste. Thanks.

Jennifer Lopez you look crazy!

Jenny from the block has a little diva in the oven, but has she lost her mind? She kicked off her tour with Marc Anthony in Vegas in this disco get-up that she borrowed from the costume room of Mamma Mia. There are much more stylish ways to conceal a swollen belly. We excuse her because she is pregnant and subject to mood swings and compromised decision making, but after baby, Jennifer, don't do this again. Thanks.

Beyonce you look crazy!

Okay B', we all know your gorgeous and we love your voluptous S-shaped figure but I vowe to blast every shapely celebrity that wears a skinny jean until the blasphemy stops. Stop endorsing this style to the countless women that look up to you. Way to distort the line of a fabulous leg... Thanks.

FIERCETROCITIES

Wait, I thought Dorothy killed the wicked witch of the west. Oh wait...That's just B's lil sis.

Solange, you look crazy!!!

She showed up with this wrinkled, shapeless, tired black dress at the People Magazine Grammy Kick-Off Party. To make matters worse she paired it with these ugly purple tights that remind me of the ones I wore in the fourth grade with my denim skirts and mary janes...ummm, that's when the look was cute.

Solange, this is all wrong. I grant you permission to steal clothes from big sis' closet. Please. America wants you to.

Shia, you look crazy!
Ashanti's little sister was photographed recently at a club in this knit contraption. Isn't this a shirt? Shouldn't this be worn with jeans? Isn't your *&%$^ hanging out?
Just cause they make it in your size doesn't mean you should wear it.
But in the case of this dress/shirt... no one should wear it.
Shia, I hope you left the tags on it. Please febreze under arms and return to Hoes are Us and get your $4. 99 back. While you're at it, get better friends.

Brick House Divas and the Jeans They Wear

Dear Divas,

I stumbled across this pic of B' at the LAX air port in fierce ruby stilletos and a fly jacket but questionable pants. Should Brick House Divas with beautiful curves that just wont quit wear skinny jeans? While the verdict is still out by many, my ruling is no. And I'm mad that trendy-fashion blogs out there written by sistas haven't wrapped the caution tape around this product. The wonderful thing about this for women with a more boxy biuld is that these jeans create the illusion of curvature. However, for women already blessed in that department, these jeans create the illusion of two ice cream cones walking down the street in a pair of stilletos. There is something about the tapering at the bottom of the leg that just ruins the beautiful curvacious line.

Let's look at B' without these contraptions. These boot cut jeans she's wearing here are tight in all the right spots but they still flatter the line of the leg.

Now I know that some of you BHD's may very well own this knew fashion fad... the skinny jeans.

Considering donating them to charity or to your more scrawny friend.

Are you a Brick House Diva shopping for Jeans?
Here are some tips.

Look for things like:

dark and medium-blue rinse (slimming and sophisticated)
sturdy jean fabric with some stretch
some form of a crease down the front and an obvious verticle grain (makes legs look longer)
a straight (trouser cut) or boot cut.. your body will add the curves
waiste that stops an inch before belly button

and avoid:
bleaching or distressing on the thighs or buts
back pocket flaps (too much emphasis on the but)
flimsy jean fabric
Lack of stretch
too much stretch (ewww, they end up looking like denim stretch pants)
jeans that stop right above the but (you'll be flashing people your undies all day. That style is not for us)
Bell bottom cuts and skinny jeans that taper at the bottom (argh)
bulky side pockets (too much emphasis on the hips)
acid wash or really light blues

Fav Brands: DKNY, House of Dereon (ironically), Miss Sixty, The Gap

Serena, you look crazy!

How to not be fly:
Wear sheer black stockings with holes at the knees. It looks like you've just been down on your knees for quite some time and we know Serena doesn't do manual labor. Hmmm. It's not a good look.
She may be a trend-setter on the courts but this one is a miss. Common looks good though.

A Return to Dark Roots?

Ciara and Beyonce, two divas with trade mark blond tresses show up on the Red Carpet this month with noticeably darker hair. Ciara has never looked better better. Talk about butta-fly. She was absolutely regal at the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington DC on the 2nd.
